Podcasting became a buzzword in the year 2005. It was named as the word of the year by the New Oxford American Dictionary that year. There are estimates that more than 150,000 podcasts are available, on a variety of subjects.
This BBC report titled Podcasts: Who still listens to them? on the status of ‘old-fashioned’ podcasting sums up the phenomenon – “podcasting still offers is a chance for anyone to get behind a microphone and, for all intents and purposes, make a radio programme”. Fans of the podcasting technology will be glad to hear that “Podcasting remains more popular than the social media site Twitter”.
There are a few different phases when creating a podcast. This of course means you’ll probably need more than one piece of podcasting software.
Recording & Editing Audio: before you can do anything else you need to record your audio and you’ll probably want to edit it. Audacity is one of the most popular programmes on the market (and has the benefit of being free for the basic package).
